João Vieira
João Vieira
My name is João Vieira, and I am a conservation biologist interested in the ecology and conservation of large carnivores, particularly their interactions and conflicts with human populations.
I concluded my MSc in Conservation Biology in 2022 at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. During my master’s thesis, I travelled to Greece to study third-order habitat selection and movement behaviour of brown bears (Ursus arctos) in a human-dominated landscape.
Since 2021, I have worked as a field technician in several Iberian wolf (Canis lupus signatus) monitoring projects in north-central Portugal, contributing to data collection and research on wolf distribution.
Currently, I am working as a research technician at the BIOPOLIS association, where I have integrated the Predator-Prey Model team. This opportunity provided my first experience working with mammals in a desert environment and will greatly contribute to expanding my knowledge and research skills.
